The following trials are available for Maryland Digital Library FY2008 subscriptions. Access to these trials requires usernames and passwords and are available only to staff at MDL libraries.

  • Music Online (includes Classical Music Library, Smithsonian Global Sound, African American Song, and American Song)

    • Classical Music Library (Available independent of Music Online)
      A fully searchable database of classical recordings. Includes tens of thousands of licensed recordings that users can listen to on the Internet. The audio selections are cross-referenced to a database of supplementary reference information. Fact sheet

    • Smithsonian Global Sound (Available independent of Music Online)
      A virtual encyclopedia of the world's musical and aural traditions. The database includes more than 35,000 individual tracks of music, spoken word, and natural and human-made sounds. Fact sheet

    • African American Song
      With jazz, blues, gospel, and other forms of African American musical expression represented, African American Song brings 50,000 tracks of music to the ears of library patrons and music scholars. Fact sheet

    • American Song
      American Song is a source for American roots music and pre-1960 American popular music. It encompasses the great American musical genres including country, folk, bluegrass, Western, old time, American Indian, blues, gospel, and shape note singing—combined with powerful recordings by artists such as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Peggy Seeger, Si Kahn, Lead Belly, Sleepy LaBeef, the New Lost City Ramblers, Otis Clay, Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater, Nanci Griffith, The Lilly Brothers, Merle Travis, and many others.   • Black Drama
    The project brings together 1,200 plays, almost a quarter of which are previously unpublished. The collection includes the complete works of more than 300 playwrights from North America, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia, and other locations. Covers Victorian plays to the present.   • Black Thought & Culture
    More than 100,000 pages of monographs, speeches, essays articles, and interviews written by leaders within the black community from earliest times to 1975. Includes the only full run of The Black Panther - the party's newspaper - and 2,500 pages of oral history interviews recorded by the former Black Panther, David Hilliard. Fact sheet

    Environment Complete offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, renewable energy sources, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. Environment Complete contains more than 1,590,000 records from more than 1,500 domestic and international titles going back to the 1950s (including 959 active core titles) as well as more than 100 monographs.   • GLBT Life with Full Text
    GLBT Life with Full Text contains all of the content available in GLBT Life as well as full text for 50 of the most important and historically significant GLBT journals, magazines and regional newspapers, as well as dozens for full text monographs.   • Hospitality & Tourism Complete
    Hospitality & Tourism Complete covers scholarly research and industry news relating to all areas of hospitality and tourism. This comprehensive database combines the records of three renowned collections: Cornell University’s former Hospitality database, Articles in Hospitality and Tourism (AHT), formerly co-produced by the Universities of Surrey and Oxford Brookes, and the Lodging, Restaurant & Tourism Index (LRTI), formerly produced by Purdue University. Together, this collection contains more than 500,000 records from more than 500 titles, with coverage dating as far back as 1965.   • PsycBOOKS
    PsycBOOKS, from the American Psychological Association (APA), is a database of more than 16,000 chapters in PDF from over 1,000 books published by APA and other distinguished publishers. The database includes most scholarly titles published by APA from copyright years 1953 - 2005. It also includes 100 out-of-print books and a total of more than 400 classic books of landmark historical impact in psychology. Fact sheet
